Continued Celebrations

Hello Dolphin Community,

The past couple of weeks have been filled with some wonderful opportunities to recognize our different members of the D-Y Community for their contributions, successes, and promising futures. Last night was Senior Awards Night where our soon to be graduates received honor recognitions as well as scholarships from over 100 different charitable organizations. The total amount of the scholarship awards received by D-Y students equaled $634,654! This is a strong testament to the remarkable community that supports our successes here in D-Y and stands behind our students as they head off into the next phase of their lives. Seniors will culminate their time here in D-Y with graduation tomorrow at 10 am inside the football stadium at D-Y High School.

At Monday's School Committee meeting, the Committee had the privilege of recognizing nearly 25 D-Y staff that will be retiring this year. These retirees represent over 480 years of dedicated service to D-Y. That is a truly remarkable legacy of public service. It reflects a countless amount of lives touched, futures shaped, and destinies recast. It also represents a significant amount of wisdom, expertise, experience, and insight that will be leaving D-Y. We will miss each of these individuals as part of our Dolphin family and simultaneously wish them nothing but the best in their pending retirement.

Surrounding the Memorial Day weekend, each of our schools held a variety of celebrations to commemorate the day. Many of the schools included guest speakers from our local community to share their thoughts and perspectives on the meaning of the holiday, further strengthening our connection between our schools and the communities we serve.

Finally, on an unrelated note. as part of our continued security and safety planning as a school district, nearly 60 school staff will be participating in a training on Monday, June 29th in a process known as reunification. Reunification is the process used to reconnect families with their children in the event of an incident at a school where students and staff can no longer return to that school. On the afternoon of the 29th (1-3:30 pm) we will be running a drill using our new training. We are seeking parent and student volunteers (middle and high school) to help us play the role of parents and children. No skill or expertise is needed. We simply need 40-60 people. If interested in helping, please click this link to sign up to help with the drill.

Thank you for your ongoing support,

Marc J. Smith, Ed.D

Need a Bus Stop Next Year?

Dear Dolphin Families,
The district has a new transportation request process for the 2026–2027 school year. Families must fill out a transportation form for each student to let us know if bus service is needed for next school year.
To make sure transportation is ready for the first day of school in September, forms must be turned in by June 25.

Forms turned in after June 25 may not be processed before school starts. Returning students who do not submit a form by the deadline will not automatically receive bus transportation. Families will need to submit a late request, which could cause a delay in service.

If you have any questions or need any assistance please reach out to your child's school.
Thank you for your attention to this important deadline.
