Hello Dolphin Community,
As we approach the Thanksgiving Holiday next week, there is so much to be thankful for here in D-Y. In just this past week, we have had several things occur that remind us of how fabulous it is to be a Dolphin!
-
State Champions! - Our Field Hockey team brought home the state championship on Saturday, after a tough battle with Frontier Regional. The game came down to the wire, with the lady Dolphins taking a 2-1 lead with just over 2 minutes left in the game to secure the title. There was such an amazing turnout of of students, families, and staff to support the team as well... it was great Community on display. Cape Media did a nice video recently on the team celebrating their success, check it out here.
-
Open Playground - Also on Saturday, Station Avenue Elementary School held a grand opening ceremony for their new playground. This beautiful, fully accessible playground is a project made possible due to a collaborative effort and funding support of the town of Yarmouth, the SAE PTO, and the D-Y District.
-
MES Feasibility Study - On Monday night, Yarmouth voters approved $1.5 million dollars to be spent from free cash (57.11% reimbursable from MSBA) on a feasibility study to move forward on determining the future of the M.E. Small Elementary School. This is a huge step for the district and ensuring that all our students' learning is supported by modern, healthy, vibrant learning facilities. To stay up to date on this project, see our webpage here.

Educational Support Personnel - Wednesday, November 19th was National Educational Support Personnel (ESP) Day. ESP's include all the staff (other than teachers and administrators) that make our district run and ensure that students have a successful, safe, learning experience each day. In D-Y we are blessed with exceptional paraeducators, custodians, administrative assistants, maintenance staff, and bus drivers/monitors; all who play an integral roll in our success, and Wednesday was a day for us to focus our appreciation on them.
These four items from the last week are among the many reasons that I am thankful to be superintendent here in Dennis-Yarmouth. As I head into my third Thanksgiving as this district’s superintendent, my appreciation continues to grow for all that D-Y offers its students, all that the staff give to ensure student success, all that the community does to support a strong school system, and the strong sense of connection and purpose that unites us all. I look forward to continuing to learn more about all of the amazing attributes of our D-Y community and sharing those with everyone I meet.
Thank you for your ongoing supp
