Checking In

Hello Dolphin Community,

This week finishes off our first round of family/teacher conferences. These meetings provide a great opportunity for families and staff to connect around student progress, make plans to ensure student success, and continue to foster the home-school partnerships that ensure student success. If for any reason you were unable to hold a conference this week, please reach out to your child's school about setting up a meeting in the coming weeks.

As folks know, we have a Strategic Plan that guides our work here within D-Y. One of our three major objectives in our plan is to address the district’s short and long-term facilities and capital needs. I wanted to share a couple of bits of information related to this objective:
  1. On November 17th at a Special Town Meeting for the Town of Yarmouth, voters will be asked to consider a $ 1.5 million use of free cash to fund a feasibility study for the next phase of the M.E. Small School Building Project. As mentioned in earlier communications, we have been invited by the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) into their school building process. Approval of funding for a feasibility study is a key component in the next step. We have created a webpage for you to stay up to date on everything related to this project (linked here) as well as an informational flyer (linked here) about the feasibility study specifically that is being voted on at the meeting on November 17th. Yarmouth residents are encouraged to attend the meeting to have their voices heard regarding this important vote.
  2. The Station Avenue Playground project is near completion. The concrete walkways were poured on Thursday this week (pictured above) and the installation of the Pour in Place surface will begin next week as long as the weather cooperates. We anticipate a fully operational new playground in the next couple of weeks! This is a great example of a community project brought together through resources from the Town of Yarmouth, the SAE PTO, and D-Y.
  3. The DYIMS turf field project repair is nearing its final stage. The turf is nearly completely installed on the upper field. The contractor was spreading the infill today and will continue into the beginning of next week. The final stage will include the paving of the track and the re-installation of the fencing.
Each of these projects is part of the district's overall goal to ensure that we provide a safe, engaging, modern learning environment that supports the needs of our students here in D-Y. We thank you for your support and patience as we complete this work and appreciate all the partners that make it possible.

Thank you for your ongoing support and enjoy the weekend,

Marc J. Smith, Ed. D.

Annual Verification Forms

Families please take a few minutes to complete the Annual Student Information Verification Form. This form replaces the old process of paper forms that used to be sent home by the school previously. It is important for families to complete this process so that we have the most up to date contact, safety, and health information for your child.
