Winter Percussion

The Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School Winter Percussion is highly successful and competitive percussion ensemble that competes within the NESBA circuit. The ensemble has earned two Massachusetts State Championships and two New England championships in the past six years.

The Winter Percussion starts in the November and rehearses Tuesday Thursday evenings 6-9 and Saturdays 9-3. The competitive season begins in late February and runs till early April. They compete on Saturdays and Sundays throughout New England. On even numbered years the Winter Percussion travels and competes in the WGI World Championships in Dayton Ohio.

All students are welcome to participate and no experience is necessary. Most students who are in Winter Percussion are wind players or have no experience on an instrument at all. Our instructors are willing to teach students percussion instruments as long as the student is willing to work at it. Unlike marching band, participates in Winter Percussion cannot play both a winter sport and be in the ensemble. Most years there is a nominal user fee with fund raising options.
