History / Social Studies

The Social Studies department presents core academic content, concepts and skills in history, psychology, sociology, government, civics, and economics. Current events, leadership, debate, law and popular culture are also major elective topics. The Social Sciences are used, in coordination with state and national frameworks, to enhance critical thinking and articulate reasoned writing and oral argument. Students learn to practice the skills needed to be responsible and informed citizens in a global, national and local democracy. Social Studies students learn to analyze the past to inform their present and mold their future.
