A Message to our MES Families
Dear MES Families,
It was wonderful to see so many families visiting their student’s classroom to attend parent-teacher conferences this week! This is such an important opportunity to learn more about your student's school experience. Learning about your student's areas for growth and celebrating their strengths at school builds the home-school partnership! The partnership that we share with our families is very important to us at M.E.Small. We want to thank you for your continued support and interest in your child’s school experience.
Warm regards,
Ms. Mahedy and Mrs. Carlson
Early Release Day: October 25th
Our dismissal will begin at 1:55 PM. This is the time that parent pick-up will be called to the lower and upper parking lots. Just as a reminder, Early Education, Kindergarten, and Grade 1 students will be dismissed to the lower lot and Grades 2 and 3 with any younger siblings will be dismissed to the upper lot. Buses will begin to arrive at 2:00 PM. The school day ends at 2:05 PM for early release days.
For families who choose to pick up their children at dismissal, the safety of your children is our first priority and our dismissal routine has been designed with that in mind. For the lower lot, please remain in your vehicle until yours is among the first six and it is your turn to safely assist your child getting into the vehicle.
The traffic pattern must follow clockwise from the entrance at Higgins-Crowell Road. Please keep to the left as you enter the lower lot and remain in the line of vehicles that you join. Thank you!

The MES "Tree" of Positive Behavior
MES is respectful, responsible, ready, caring, and safe!
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
On September 25th, MES launched our first school-wide initiative focused on what it looks like, sounds like, and feels like to be Caring. Being caring is one of our school-wide expectations. MES is respectful, responsible, ready, caring, and safe!
A student may receive a bead and a paper leaf to be hung on our tree outside of the gym! We have watched the tree become full through the rest of September and throughout October. To celebrate how students are following school-wide expectations, our first All School Meeting will be shared on October 27th! We look forward to celebrating our students and school community!
Here are some ways that students can show how they are caring at MES:
- Help others
- Listen to others
- Respect different perspectives
- Keep your hands to yourself
- Use kind words and actions
