A Message to Our Families
Dear MES Families,
We want to wish you a wonderful December break! It is a privilege and pleasure to be part of your child's school experience. What a treat it was to see our students shine on stage during the December concert! Everyone did a fabulous job! Thank you Ms. Healy, our staff, and our friends at the Dennis-Yarmouth Intermediate Middle School for making this event such a success! We also want to thank our amazing president of our Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO), Mrs. Peace, and fellow members for another donation bake sale! All of this money will go towards supporting field trips, field day, and much more!
Our report cards have marked an important point in the school year to celebrate our students achievements, growth, and set goals for future growth! January will bring even more learning opportunities. We will be able to enjoy a visit from the Atlantic While Shark Conservancy Visit for our second and third graders! Our kindergarten through third grade students will share a visit from Bart Weisman and his jazz band for our jazz in school series!
We value our partnership with you and our community! Again, we wish you the very best this December break and holiday season!
Warm regards,
Ms. Mahedy and Mrs. Carlson
December Concert Highlights!
Dear M.E. Small families,
I wish to extend my sincerest gratitude for all you did to help make this year's December Concert such a memorable event! From encouraging your students to practice the songs to attending the evening concert, it was a huge success. And those who could not be with us Monday evening did such a wonderful job at our dress rehearsals during the day on Monday! Their hard work and practice really showed.
I wish you all a joyful, relaxing, and healthy December break! See you all in the new year!
Ms. Healy
Early Education Spotlight!
Whether it was dancing, sharing a read aloud, or building a "gingerbread" house, our early education students had a blast today!
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
If students are seen demonstrating being responsible, respectful, ready, caring, and safe, they may be given a bead to recognize their positive behavior. Students may have also been given a paper pumpkin, leaf, acorn, pine cone, or apple that has been added to our school "harvest basket" hanging on the wall by our gymnasium. Our students were recognized over 150 times for their good choices! Way to go MES! Beginning in the month of January, students will be recognized with a "paper" snowball... to make a giant snowman!
How can you help at home? Talk to your child about how they can show that they are being responsible, respectful, ready, caring, and safe! Here are some examples:
- Enter and exit recess quietly in line
- Use kind words and actions
- Keep your hands to yourself
- Keep your possessions in your backpack while you are on the bus
- Listen to others
- Help others
- Be in charge of your learning
- Be responsible for your words and actions
The Kindness Tree
Here are some of the students in Mrs. Filosa-Wills' third grade class adding to the "Kindness Tree" that is located outside our occupational therapy and speech and language services classroom. Students and staff can choose to highlight an act of kindness by writing it down and adding it to one of the trees hanging in the hallway.
