A Message to Our Families
Dear MES Families,
We hope that everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving break! Included in this week’s newsletter are some highlights from the week and events coming up during the month of December!
Students and staff shared in a lockdown drill on Thursday, November 30th. These drills help us to practice procedures for how to remain safe in the event of an emergency. We would like to thank Officer Pasquarosa, Officer Brewer, and their team who helped us practice this drill.
In other news, the health office completed vision screenings this week. For students who were absent on picture day or anyone who wanted to retake their picture, O’Connors Studios joined us for school picture retakes on Thursday.
We are asking that you make sure your child leaves at home their trading cards, toys, and electronic devices. If these items do join us in school, all toys and electronic devices must remain in backpacks, powered off during school hours. Thank you!
Warm regards,
Ms. Mahedy and Mrs. Carlson

Cape Cod 5 Mini-Grant
Congratulations to Crystal Cote, our occupational therapist, and Mary Cronin, our literacy coach, for being awarded the Cape Cod 5 Mini Grant for the 2023-2024 school year! They will be using this opportunity to provide our students with the materials and supports needed for “self-regulation stations” and high-quality picture books by the author, Valerie Bolling.
Every year, Cape Cod 5 provides thousands of dollars in mini-grants to fund educational projects to public school teachers in the communities we serve. Since its inception in 2000, more than 1,600 mini-grants, totaling over $675,000, have been awarded.
Educational Mini-Grants are grants for amounts up to $500 given to local public school teachers to fund educational projects. This year 220 teachers from 82 schools throughout Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket and Southeastern Massachusetts will be receiving a Mini-Grant award, funding 213 projects!
Thank you Mrs. Cote and Mrs. Cronin for all that you do for our students!
Supporting Our Families During the Holidays
We hope our families had a wonderful Thanksgiving to all who celebrate. The holidays are around the corner and we want to continue to provide support to families during this season.
This year we are able to donate a holiday meal or grocery store gift card to 15 families. The list to sign up is first come first serve by DECEMBER 13. Please contact the school social worker as soon as possible if you would like to be on the list.
We are providing a resource to help you with gifts this holiday season. Toys for Tots on Cape Cod is a great opportunity to request toys for your children for free. A link is provided below for you to fill out. Further information and directions are in the link.
If you have any questions or are in need of further assistance please reach out to the school social worker.
