A Message to Our Families:
Welcome back from our April break! It was wonderful to have everyone all together. We are looking forward to our next event in which we invite our families and students to join together as a school community.
Our Poetry Cafe is this coming week! We are looking forward to celebrating our writers, readers, and artists during our 7th Annual MES Poetry Cafe on Tuesday, April 30th, from 5:30-6:30 PM. The Cape Cod Cultural Center will be hosting us so we can have our event in their beautiful space. Come join us for poetry readings by MES students and view the artwork displayed by the 3rd grade classes.Thank you to the MES LIteracy Leadership Team, our literacy coach, Mary Cronin, and our art teacher, James Walker, for all that they are doing to make this event a success for our students and their families!
We hope to see you at the MES Poetry Cafe!
Warm regards,
Ms. Mahedy and Mrs. Carlson

Second Grade Classroom Highlight
Our second graders shared a series of writer's workshop lessons focused on haikus with Mr. Bogle and Mrs. Ciavarra. The haiku is a Japanese poetic form that consists of three lines, with five syllables in the first line, seven in the second, and five in the third. Students wrote, illustrated, and will publish their writing! These masterpieces have been inspired by professionally published texts such as One Leaf Rides the Wind by Celeste Mannis and Hi, Koo: A Year of Seasons by Jon J. Muth.
In the World of Physical Education
In the world of Physical Education students returned from vacation working on their Dance unit. Students will be doing the the following dances: Hokey Pokey, Chicken Dance, Limbo, Bunny Hop, YMCA, The Twist, You Make Me Want to Shout, The Electric Slide, The Cha Cha Slide, Cupid Shuffle, Macarena, Whip Nae Nae, Cotton Eyed Joe and the Mexican Hat Dance. In addition to these, each class is given time to create their own dance moves during free dance where we listen to Kids Bop Music! Ms. Buron
Copeland Subaru of Hyannis & Adopt a Classroom Donation
Marguerite E. Small would like to thank Copeland Subaru of Hyannis for the generous donation of $3,000 that will be used for the 2024-2025 school year. This donation will fund academic resources needed for our students. Building on our collaborative, team-based approach, our school will be working together to select items that best fit the needs of our school community. This is a welcomed and much appreciated donation and we would like to thank the nonprofit organization of AdoptAClassroom.org and Copeland Subaru of Hyannis for selecting our school!
