D-Y is a 2015 U.S. News “Best High Schools” Silver Medal Recipient

Last week the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School District was notified that its high school, the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School, was awarded the 2015 U.S. News “Best High Schools” Silver Medal. DY High School also received this prestigious honor in 2013.

High schools selected for this esteemed award must meet the following criteria—“a high school  must serve all of its students well and it must produce measurable academic outcomes to show it is successfully educating its student body across a range of performance indicators,” as stated by RTI International, a global nonprofit social science research firm in conjunction with U.S. News & World Report. The third step to the process once these are met is to “assess the degree to which high schools prepare their students for college-level work.”

DY High School is ranked 64th in the Commonwealth among 352 high schools and 1793rd of 21,000 nationally. Ninety-two percent of DY High School students scored Proficient in English, 82 percent in Mathematics. One of the measures of this honor is based upon Advanced Placement (AP) participation at DYRHS which is 34 percent.
