National Honor Society

Established in 1921, the National Honor Society (NHS) is one of the nation’s leading educational organizations and recognizes excellence in the four pillars of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. It is sponsored and governed by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP).

Juniors and Seniors with a GPA of 3.5 or higher are eligible to represent the DY Chapter of the National Honor Society. Students are first selected using their GPA, then voted on by a Faculty Council based on the ideals of service, leadership, and character. The final selections are then approved by our Principal.

NHS members are expected to participate in chapter service activities and maintain and expand on the ideals of NHS. Members must follow the NHS Constitution and the bylaws of the DY Chapter.

NHS meets every month after school. The day is determined by the President of our chapter. Annual dues vary each year and cannot exceed $20.00.
