Inductees:

Richard Colby, 1964 Graduate, CoachRichard was a three-sport athlete in soccer, basketball and baseball. He was an All-Cape selection in each sport and was a captain in all three his senior year. After graduation from Colby College, he returned to DY where he was a teacher, a coach, an assistant principal, and a principal at the Wixon Middle School.

Paul Funk, PosthumouslyPaul was the Head Football Coach for 18 years, beginning in 2001. During that time, DY would become a powerhouse in football locally and statewide including winning two state championships. He was also the Head Baseball Coach from 2003 to 2014 winning several league championships. In 2014, he became the Athletic Director and remained in that position until becoming the DY High School principal in 2019.

Karen Olander, CoachOne of DY’s most successful coaches, Karen amassed an overall record of 150-27-11 for  field hockey in 11 years as head coach. In her final year, her team won the state championship with an undefeated, 23-0 record. She returned to DY as an assistant coach in 2006 - 2018, and a final year as head coach in 2019. She served as an assistant in 2022 and 2023. Karen was also the Head Girls’ Gymnastics Coach from 1974 to 1980.

Debbie Keim (Davis), 1984 GraduateA three-sport athlete in field hockey, basketball and golf. Debbie was a two-time Boston Globe All-Scholastic in field hockey and was the Mass. Girls’ State Individual Champion in golf three consecutive years. She also won the New England PGA Junior Championship and competed at Div 1 Purdue in both golf and field hockey.

Heather Houle, 1988 GraduateHeather was a three-sport athlete, competing in volleyball, basketball and track. She was selected to multiple all-star teams during her career in all three, including being chosen as a Southeastern Mass. Conference All-Star seven total times. Her shot put record in track would stand for over 20 years. She would play volleyball for Bryant University.

Kathy Dekker (Whitlock), 1990 GraduateKathy was a two-time South Shore League All-Star in field hockey, basketball and track. She was also a Boston Globe All-Scholastic in field hockey her senior year and in basketball both her junior and senior years. Her 1,585 points makes her the leading scorer in DY Girls’ Basketball history and fifth all-time in Cape Cod history. She is also DY’s all-time leading rebounder.

Scott Yakola, 1980 Graduate.  Competing in x-country, indoor track and outdoor track, Scott was the recipient of ten varsity letters and was selected by the DY coaches as the winner of the Walter “Skip” Daley Award, presented to the outstanding senior athlete. He was the Div. 3 State Individual Champion in x-country as a senior. Scott also held the school record for DY’s home cross-country course and the 1 mile for both indoors and outdoors.
