Leo Club

“Leadership, Experience, Opportunity.”

The DY Leo Club is sponsored by the Barnstable-Yarmouth Lions Club.  Our club engages in a variety of community service with emphasis on preventing blindness.  We collect glasses to be distributed globally, and organize Vision Screenings for all 10th grade DY students.  We also record readings for the Audible Local Ledger.  The Audible Local Ledger is the Cape, Islands and South Coast representative of the Massachusetts Audio Information Network or M.A.I.N., a state-wide radio information network that provides reading to the blind and print impaired of daily newspapers, current periodicals, shopping guides, short stories, radio plays, calendars of community events, and other material previously available to the vision impaired only in print. Additionally, past Leo Club events include fundraisers for the Baby Center in Hyannis, marching in local parades, attending Leo Club service days, food drives, Relay for Life, volunteering at the Yarmouth Library Book Sale, and spearheading the Lions Club Youth Speech Contest.  The Leo Club is an active club for any students in grade 8-12 who want to make a difference in their community and have fun doing it!
