A Message to Our Families:
Dear MES Families,
We are excited to welcome back the author, Ana Crespo, to our school! Last school year, Ana joined MES for grade level presentations and a family reading night that included a book signing! This year, Ana will be joining us for a four day workshop in our classrooms focused on the steps to make our very own picture books! What a treat it will be for our writers to share this process with a professionally published author! Check out more about Ana and this highly anticipated event below!
In addition to our upcoming author visit, our "Fun Run" is just around the corner! Our "Fun Run" event is hosted by our Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) and will help us raise funds that will benefit our school! Mark your calendars for the "Fun Run" that will take place on April 10th! Please consider registering! Registration details are below and more information is coming soon!
Our third and final trimester has begun and report cards will be sent home on March 27th! Remember that there is no school on Friday, March 29th.
We hope that everyone has a wonderful weekend!
Warm regards,
Ms. Mahedy and Mrs. Carlson

Ana will take our students through the many steps to create a picture book. Students will write and illustrate their own stories. Check out Ana's website and the various published books that we have been invited to explore before Ana visits us!
Grade 1 Art
Mr. Walker, our art teacher, has displayed some more art in the building created by our young artists! Mrs. Logan's class collaborated on woven fences. The students did a great job learning about basic weaving and knot tying.
Calmer Choice
Mrs. Martin's first grade class has been doing a great job working on our Calmer Choice video project. Here are the first four videos created and ready to share with our families. Our students have been learning about mindfulness and how to apply these strategies to their own experiences! Click on the links below to hear about these strategies (a few students shared in Portuguese as well!).
