PRINCIPAL'S FEBRUARY MESSAGE:
As February begins, the daylight hours remind us that we are mid-way through our Cape Cod winter. The month of January is a time when all classrooms are busy and focused on learning new skills with time for lots of practice. I am hoping that everyone has been taking time to read every night at home. This practice really impacts progress in school in a positive way. We have also been emphasizing respectful behavior especially in our lunchroom. Our school has also been focused on reaching out to help the victims of the earthquake in Haiti with a collection box in our lobby. In addition our first grade will be hosting our All School Meeting with the theme of "Caring" in February. Their food drive will help meet needs for many in our local Cape Cod community.
Second quarter report cards will be coming home on February 5th. This will be the first one of the year for students in Kindergarten and Grade One. As always, please contact your child's teacher here at school. Our LCM School Council will once again be conducting a school-wide survey. The feedback you provide gives us the chance to look at future planning and to assess how LCM is meeting the needs of the school community. The participation in our After School Enrichment program has once again been very enthusiastic.
Please note that if you have a child in Grade 3, they will be taking part in MCAS testing for both reading and math. For planning purposes it is extremely important that they be present for testing during the week of March 22 and May 10. More details will be forthcoming from your child's teacher.
As always,
if you are interested in volunteering in any way we welcome you to contact us and let us know. We appreciate the many ways you continue to support our school and your children's learning at LCM. Please contact me with any questions or concerns. I look forward to seeing you around our school!
EARLIEST STUDENT DROP OFF TIME IS 9:05:
LCM welcomes students each and every day but not before 9:05 in the morning when teachers are in their classrooms. Students who arrive before 9:05 a.m. are asked to go to our Daycare program where the fee to you will be $6.00 per morning. Thank you!
STUDENT ATTENDANCE IS IMPORTANT
School attendance is extremely important. The No Child Left Behind Act mandates 92% attendance. Remember to plan appointments and vacations accordingly. We expect all healthy children to be in school, on time, every day.
