FEBRUARY 2012 :

COMMUNITY WEEK HIGHLIGHTS IN FEBRUARY
Please come visit our schools to learn more about the wonderful options open to all students in our Dennis-Yarmouth schools.
LCM will be open to the public on Tuesday through Thursday, Feb. 14, 15 and 16 between the hours of 10-11:30 or 1:00-2:30.

MCAS State Testing for Gr. 3 students
Our third graders will be taking the state MCAS tests on the following dates: March 20 and 21 and May 15 and 16. Please make every effort to have your child in school on time these important dates.

JUMP ROPE FOR HEART
For the third consecutive year, the MacArthur school will be focused on heart health by participating in the American Heart Association's Jump Rope for Heart program. We are thrilled to continue this fun and healthy tradition! During Feb.10-16, our students will be jumping rope and do other heart-healthy activities while in regularly scheduled gym classes. Students have been sent home a pledge envelope if your family chooses to support the mission of the American Heart Association. We appreciate your support of this worthy cause!

SCHOOL IS CLOSED FOR WINTER BREAK
School is closed February 17 for a Teacher In-Service Day and the following week for winter vacation, Feb. 20-24.

PARENT COFFEE
There will be a parent coffee on Friday, February 10 in the LCM Cafeteria from 10-11. Please join this informal gathering of parents and staff. This month's topic is "Teaching Math in the 21st Century." Parents will observe a "teaching session" where a student will work with math manipulatives to solve problems.

PTO
The next PTO meeting is February 8th at 7 pm. in Rm. 11.

STUDENT ATTENDANCE IS IMPORTANT
School attendance is extremely important. The No Child Left Behind Act mandates 92% attendance. Remember to plan appointments and vacations accordingly. We expect all healthy children to be in school, on time, every day.
